-
Spread glue down 1/2
of one length using a notched trowel.
-
Allow fumes and
gases to evaporate for about five (5) minutes.
-
Using many men, pick
up carpet and roll into glue. Make sure glue transfers onto the
urethane back.
-
Quickly roll back
carpet, careful not to get glue on face. Continue allowing the
fumes to evaporate until the glue becomes tacky and has legs.
-
When glue is just
about to dry, roll the carpet back into the glue. Smooth out
with a 20 - 30 pound roller. Smooth out all air pockets. Check
seams for good fit. Continue process on other half (1/2) length
of carpet.
-
If hundreds of small
gas bubbles appear, check carpet on corners. If glue is not dry
pull up carpet, reapply glue, and repeat as explained above.
-
Remember, Dow
Urethane is air tight and it could take the glue 3 - 4 days to
dry. Air pockets could appear at any time. Do not leave until
glue is dry.
-
Air pockets could be
avoided by covering carpet with plywood and putting weights on
top of plywood. This process could take glue 7 - 8 days to dry.
